The 30D is a well-made, sophisticated camera that produces great-looking results. Some may be disappointed by the fine detail rendition, though, and may need to experiment with different sharpening settings or RAW files. And good though it is, the 30D is by no means a clear market leader. Also consider:

Canon 30DReviewer: ajb963, Brighton, United Kingdom I've just bought this camera following the price drop. It is my return to SLR photography after trading my Canon A1 based kit in for a Nikon 5700. This is such a simple camera to use, controls & menus all laid out in a logical manner. The continuous and low light shooting have impressed me and have added extra dimensions to my photography over my previous digital camera - but then i suppose that's why you upgrade. Also, the quality of the images i am looking at are excellent - i am recording detail that previously i was unaware of - and in RAW mode, it gets even better. This camera has at least met, if not exceeded my expectations, it may not be as cheap as some of the other bodies but for me, the extra cost was well worth it, if you are looking at moving into DSLR kit and have opted for Canon, given its reduced price you won't go far wrong with this camera.
Outstanding!Reviewer: hannesbomorten, Küsnacht, Zürich, Switzerland Many years a Canon EOS user, having bought the first EOS650 in 1988, and owner of a Canon 10D I wanted something more up to date, flexible and close to professional quality and was ready to upgrade my lenses as well. After careful testing I actually wanted the Nikon D200 but the quoted delivery time of 6 weeks made me to buy the 30D and Canon lenses as well. Since May 2006 I have taken some 4,000 shots and I have been totally won over by the 30D which in every way has performed convincingly. I primarily use Canon 24-105L, 70-300 IS DO and the 100-400L lenses and the quality is stunning. I believe the Canon 30D is absolutely as good as the Nikon D200 and I can highly recommend it.
Great camera!Reviewer: madsenanders[DK], Baekke, Denmark After a lot of research and debating with myself whether to buy the 350D (really to small for my hands) or the 30D I finally decided to cough up the extra money around teh end of April and send my trusty old Minolta DiMAGE5 to a long overdue retirement. I've just shot a series of images of my wife with the 30D, a Canon 50 mm f/1.8 II and a Canon Speedlight 430EX and I'm literally blown away by the pictures: Throw some good glass at this camera body and it will give you clear, crisp and extremely sharp images, especially when working with images in the RAW format. Highly recommended.
thomsenphoto.comReviewer: AlyonTstallion, Eagleville, Missouri, USA The Canon 30d is a real winner in my book. I have had nothing but great luck with mine. My wife and I own and operate a small studio and people are extremely pleased with the photo's we shoot for them with the 30d. It may not be marketed as "PRO" but it is a pro camera. and its alot cheaper than anything else on the market that even comes close to it's useability and quality.
What a great camera !Reviewer: CarlosTaylor, Perth, Western Australia My first venture into Digital photography was with a Fuji Finepix S9500 which I was blown away with. Hoping to be more versatile and creative with my new found passion I decide to upgrade to a DSLR after just 4 months with the Fuji. The 30D seemed to be the best bang for your buck camera for me so I bought one. This camera has blown me away with its handling and feel, ease of use, the conise clear menuing system and last by absolutely no means least, the quality of the images. I have even taken images up to 1600 ISO with acceptable noise! This camera rocks! Don't hesitate, go out and buy one.
Canon Eos30dReviewer: stufighters, Melbourne , Australia My first impression of the EOS30D was good, however when I started shooting in raw file format I was blown away by the clarity of the digital images on my Mac. I find the Eos30d very easy to use as it is my first digital SLR. The only complaint I have is that the ease inwhich the dust particles find there way to the Sensor on my camera, I have not even changed the lense on my camera yet!!!! Overall though I am very happy with the money I spent & find that it is a great camera for me to grow into as I embark on my road to professional photography.
