The EOS 5D is Canon’s “entry-level” full frame SLR. It’s a stunning camera that has many advantages but it does require the very best lens in order to make the most of its features. Unless you’re printing up very large photos this camera could be a case of overkill. Consider the Nikon D200 or Canon EOS 30D instead. Also consider:

canon eos 5dReviewer: kydog, cornwall, uk this camera is well worth the money,i am no professional but even i can notice the difference in detail colour and quality of photos having used and owned previously a canon 10d 350d and a 30d i can see a marked difference in picture quality.I find the 5d easy to use and coupled with a decent lens its amazing and shooting in low light is brilliant I thought the 30d was good but the 5d is far superior
My last camera.Reviewer: KeithT, Newport, Isle of Wight, UK I have just purchased the 5d after putting my toe in the digital water with a Sony R1 Bridge camera. I have owned two film Eos cameras, the Eos1 and Eos3 before moving to Contax g2 for 5 years. Coming back to Canon was easy, as the 5d is intuitive. I have the 24-105 f4 L lens and the combination of this with the 5d is a marriage made in heaven. My advice is buy one. If you are a pro and don't need the build of the top 1d's, you can save a bundle of money by choosing this camera. Handling is reminiscent of the Eos 3 in many ways. For me the issue of the viewfinder was a part of the reason I went full frame and it's good to be back and work with a view that can be seen easily. If you can raise the money, buy one. You will not be disappointed.
Canon 5D ReviewReviewer: XC90, Chelmsford, UK After using 67 and 645 format cameras for 20 years I decided to enter the digital arena. I first started out with the 10D it was ok but hated the 1.6 thinghy, so I went for the 5D with larger viewfinder and no coversion factor, the higher pixel count is also a plus on this camera. The viewfinder I find a bit dim after using the 1ns but hey its still a great camera, being a Canon user I found the controls very easy to find, but with all these cameras there are far to many programns most will never be used and not required to take a good pic having said that I reckon its up there with the best. Next progression I suppose is the1Ds ll after i've sold the car.!!!!!!
Powermac22Reviewer: Powermac22, Pakenham Victoria, Australia I have found the 5D to be the ultimate in digital SLR`s I have had a few digitals from high end compacts through the range of Canon SLR`s, 300d 350d the most recent the 20d But now the 5D, The best by far. Recent reviews say that you must have good lenses, I have an old 24 - 80 L series and a Tokina 19 - 35. Both of these lenses came to life when paired with the 5D. Sharp as a tack Fantastic looking photo`s thats all I can say, easy to use after the 20D can`t go wrong. If you are a fan of Canon, you won`t look back.
A Camera Hard to Beat !Reviewer: kevinkayani, Engadine, Sydney, Australia I used Canon 1Ds, Canon 10D, 20D, 30D, etc.... and believe me no one matches the quality of 5D. So light to use and stunning quality pictures. Please see my pictures. It gives you amazing results with 24-70 f2.8L lens that was made for this camera and 100mm f2.8 macro lens. The best thing is the quality of noise you get when you push the ISO to 800 or more. Please sell all your old gear and buy this Camera...
