Absolute image quality is not as good as you’ll get from an SLR, but the lens will cover many people for every shot they’ll take in a lifetime of photography. Lack of genuine shakecompensation is a disappointment but otherwise the FinePix S9500 Zoom is an extremely capable camera for the money. Also consider:

FantasticReviewer: fujis9500, Geneva, Switzerland People, in general you get for what you've paid but here, the S9500 gives you much much much more. This camera can satisfy the most demanding of us but like all things, if you don't take the time to learn and experience how this superb piece of technology functions, then you'll never make superb pictures anyway.
I agree with one of the comments stated below. I also have my top notch Nikon and be sure that it would be extremely hard to make the difference between pictures taken from the Nikon and the S9500.
Let us not forget, it is not the camera that makes a fantastic picture but the one using the camera at the best of its potential.
I would recommend this camera for any one who wants to make excellent pictures in most of situations without being forced to pay the price of an SLR.
MikeReviewer: G4ULL, Hapton Burnley, United Kingdom I bought the s9500 just after release with so far no problems, as for image stabilisation I just hold the camera still, I also use a nikon 35mm which I bought 2 years ago and since I bought the fuji it's only had 3 films in it, after a little photoshop (I own a printing company) I defy anyone to prove which camera the shot came from, excellent value compared to nikon, Hard Drive almost full of excellent photo's.
myarchitectReviewer: ffwan, cardiff, united Kingdom focus, sharpness problems.without a tripod or apporiate support,it could not show its best quality and features.but a valuable for newbs...
Finepix S9500Reviewer: Just_Kevin, Leven, Scotland Well I have had my S9500 since June this year and two weeks ago it failed on me. It was the control panel but I sent it off to Fuji and it was repaired with a new top plate and sent back in three days. That's a one day turn around (I was impressed) Having read the the other reports on here I am now a bit worried but I must admit its a brilliant camera, OK the focusing could be a bit better but for a price tag of just over £300 what do you expect. The quality of the images are exceptional, last weekend I shot a 16 pic panorama of Eyemouth harbour at 2.00am in the morning in pitch darkness and the pictures are just wonderful. I do think I will take the extended warrenty on this camera though and if you didn't know you can take it out until its 13 months old.
S9500 A+++Reviewer: Lostcontact-photography, Worthing, West Sussex had the S9500 for about 3 months now ... thought i had made a mistake not a D-SLR ... but i was so wrong ... amazing camera ... feels good in the hand ... found it easy to use but am still learning some of the more advanced features
can handle most situations ... was photographing Brighton Speed Trials ... Motor Bikes Clocking 173 mph and clearing quarter of a mile in just over 9 seconds ... no problems handling that kind of speed work ... works well on longer exposure shots i have done recently ...
couldnt ask for a better sub SLR
Command Dial ProblemReviewer: AyJayEl, Tring, Herts I would have given this camera a five rating if it hadn't been for the fact that the command dial failed on mine. I've since found out that it is a common problem. Hopefully Fuji have fixed it on the later production.
Other than that the S9500 is an excellent camera for a sub slr. You've got all the settings you need and a good lens. 28 - 300. It's responsive (I've taken motor racing shots successfully as long as I pre focus) and it copes with most lighting conditions. There is a bit of noise at high ISOs but you would expect that.
Colour rendition is excellent to over saturated (if you use Chrome).
Plenty of pixels too. I've printed at A3 very successfully.
fujifilm s9500Reviewer: richard55, bath, somerset I have had the s9500 camera for 4 months its only problem is no image stabiliser which i would have liked But as i moved from a practica slr i was not used to flash features anyway (but all the other shiny bits make up for this) joke aside i am very pleased with this camera the pics i take are all sorts and this camera is well suited to my needs.

Fuji Does it AgainReviewer: richard3177, Wittering, Peterborough, United Kingdom I have now been using the Fuji S9500 for 2 months and I can say that it is a very good camera, the body is very well constructed and the camera feels nice in your hand, compared to the Canon EOS350d, although maybe not as versatile as the 350d it is still able to cope with most situations, and I would recommend the camera to anyone who wants SLR type camera without he cost A+++
