The Konica Minolta Dynax 5D is a very good camera. Its feel and finish belie the budget price. The design and controls are intelligently thought out and this results in rich and colourful images. It’s a tough decision between this little beauty and the Nikon D50. Takes older Minolta lenses as well as the newer types. Also consider:
Nikon D50
Working in the professional field for quite some time i have seen many cameras come and go, but this little weapon came as a pleasant surprise to me. Throw away the 18-70mm toy kit lens and replace it with some quality glass and you have yourself a truly professional unit. This little baby will hapily take qulity minolta af lenses and turn them into an anti shake piece, saving thousands of dollars alone !! It feels a good size in the hand, fitted with a full metal lens makes a huge difference to the QUALITY feel also !! It's light weight and responsive, and capable, very very capable of excellent quality shots. The switches and buttons are well positioned, easy and quick for ajustments and the battery life is good. The only problem with this camera is the fact that they don't make a vertical battery grip, but if you can live without that, and you have a collection of af lenses, then this is the camera you have been waiting for.
