Brand new and about to reach a High Street near you. This 10.2-megapixel SLR is built to a very high standard and features the same highquality image processing engine that you’ll find in the far pricier Nikon D2x. This is the ideal camera for wedding and portrait photographers or an advanced enthusiast.

Amazing Camera!!!

Reviewer: superphilman, Wigan, U.K

Now that the New D300 has come out many people are looking at that as the thing to get. I would recommend getting a d200 instead, because of how much the D300 has pushed the D200 price down in the second hand circuit. I've had my D200 for a while now, and it simply doesn't let you down. The 100 ISO makes amazing image quality, and the 5 frames a second shooting means you don't miss any of the action.

5*

excellent

im very fussy when it comes to dslrs.

this is the first in a long line of slrs, ps and dslrs that is a pleasure to own shoot and keep.

nothing is perfect. the d200 comes close

Terrific tool

An absolute dream to use.
This camera just oozes quality. From its weather sealed magnesium alloy body,to its solid feeling buttons and controls.
This is one of those cameras that just makes you want to pick it up and use it.I really am like a kid with a new toy.
I upgraded from a D70, and this camera is just in a different class.
I looked at the D80 and although a terrific camera, the D200 won me over with its speed, build quality and handling.(makes it sound like a car review)
Obviously aimed at the serious enthusiast or semi pro, this camera is well worth the extra cash.
Highly recommended

What's the fuss about!

Reviewer: nikonowner, duston, UK

I bought one of these with all the expectation that you would expect after reading all the hype, but basically came away very dissapointed, picture exposure using jpeg is a joke to say the least, point it at anything the has shadows or highlights and either you get blowouts or sheer black, and i'm not talking horizons where an nd grad would help, colour rendition is also rubbish, i have the camera turned up to vivid + and still have to add saturation is ps on EVERY SHOT, it has a 2.1/2 inch lcd, big deal! as soon a the sun is two inches above the horizon you can't see anything on it if you're outside, which renders white balance tuning (and pretty much everything else i upgraded from my D50 to get) redundent, so if you're buying one of these (you can buy mine i'm selling it) shoot raw on every shot, and be prepared to manipulate every shot substantially in photoshop. awarded 2 stars because it's great for posing, but if only they new the truth.

Like Feeding A Donkey Strawberrys?

Reviewer: happyture1, St,martins, UK

I saved, I sold all my vintage cameras, I Had to have a d200? I charged the battery, I placed it into the belly of my shiney new d200, I took a few NEF shots, The camera belched and the battery was dead, COME ON NIKON whats the game you build a great camera, yet it eats batterys like giving a donkey strawberrys, Dont get me wrong I like the camera, but this is a let down, So if any one wants to by a pair of lonsdale trainers well used please phone me, Because i now need a battery grip for my Donkey...

D200...Great but not perfect

Reviewer: Daytona, Malmesbury, England

I use a D200 for work. It is a very sound performer and is capable of yielding top quality images, on a par with most other digital SLR's. Image quality is subjective and very much depends on the optic you use to fill the hole at the front. However, I have found that the top LCD plate is prone to getting water underneath the glass, even when covered up quickly during the briefest of showers. I have also found that small specs of dust can penetrate behind this panel....annoying. The main LCD glass is easily scratched, even with a lens cloth!...it is nowhere near as tough as the D2X/D2Xs. The plastic pop-up flash housing also seems cheap compared to the rest of the body...which on-the-whole is ok. The so-called build quality has not coped well with the rigours of my work schedule...do the rest of you guys wrap your cameras in cotton wool? I am a dedicated Nikon user, but lets not get carried away here...the D200 is good, but not perfect...not by a long shot.

D200 WOW!

Reviewer: marcus61, Daejeon, South Korea

This camera was made for me, just me... Everything I want at my fingertips, sharp pics, brilliant colour, fantastic resoution, handlability, weight, solid build, easy navigation of the extensive menus, the engine in this thing is like it's reading my mind... One thing I find a little disappointing is reviewing on the LCD is a little difficult in bright daylight, (Like the LCDs on most other cameras,) but I can live with that, since this is the best camera ever made. I've tried other cameras but none compare to the D200. If you're considering buying a camera, any other camera, have a lay down and wait for it to pass then make the D200 the one you get. Once you pick one up it melts into your hand and tells you it will do anything you want... It's instant love!

Worth every penny

It's Superb!

Reviewer: stefanelf, Pembroke Dock, UK

I must say that the D200 has made a mark on my photography in record time! When I first received my D50, I thought 'Wow, this camera knows how I think...' Now I have to revise that statement. THIS camera knows how I think. It's almost scary. I find myself using the controls and functions as if I knew where and how to find them all my life. Sharpness with my old Nikkor manual lenses is easily achieved with the focus-light, and exposure is perfect, shot after shot after shot. I'm longing for a longer outing with it, so far I've only taken snapshots. Buy it if you possibly can!
