Visually almost indistinguishable from the D70 but a good £200 cheaper. The controls on the D50 are much simpler to that of its counterpart. However what is most impressive about the D50 is the supreme image quality the shots are bright and stand out. It maybe made of plastic but its really solid and excellent for the money.

Nikon D50

Reviewer: AndrewRoberts, Tunbridge Wells, England

Being a amateur photographer studying full time at college i find this camera good at getting most jobs done for projects. My only negative feed backs on this camera has to be the fact it doesn't have flash sync built in being a bit of an annoyance with studio work and also has limited selection of saving moods (being JPEG's and RAW). Other than that its got my some very good high quality photographs.

What a Digital Camera. Super good, I am very satisfy with this D50, cause I used it for works, travel, camping. With my little experience I can get a good photo.

D50 wonderful camera!

Reviewer: mikesmigaj, Jacksonville, Florida , U.S.A.

I will have owned this camera for 2 years on this coming christmas. This D50 has taken over 40,000 shots and it's still producing nice shots! Since this is a digital camera, I'm not affraid to just shoot and see what develops. Plus, with each new Nikon lens that I buy, I have to learn how to use the camera all over again! This is the most fun I've had with any camera!

Snooker Photos

Reviewer: alfadriver, Chandlers Ford, Southern England, England

I work part time at Chandlers Ford snooker club. The coach writes a weekly column for our local paper and I started to take photos with my Sony compact camera. Since I upgraded to my Nikon D50 my photos have gone from good to excellent. I can now take photos in natural light in the club and although I have to wait for the shot to arrive, I can take multiple frames and choose the best. With manual adjustment of the exposure I can take photos of our snooker players that have been described as "the best I have ever seen" by our coach. These photos are printed every week in our local paper and also in a snooker magazine 'Cuesports' every month. My Nikon D50 has turned my photography into a different league. Its very easy to use, wether automatic or manual, and coupled with the SB600 flashgun has produced results that have amazed me. All round, a very good and easy to use camera. A pleasure to use.

Top Class Camera

Reviewer: turkey, nuneaton, uk

I have had this camera for a year and a half and only been disappointed with the pictures for the first 2-3 weeks of use. I was a complete amateur when I first started, and have since gained a fair amount of skill, and can now pull a good set of pictures out of a location. I am an "urban explorer" and I need to take my camera into very harsh environments such as the Paris Catacombs, Mines and Up cranes, the camera is still keeping me occupied and I have no desire to upgrade yet.

My positivity for this camera was renewed when I recently bought the Sigma 10-20 lens, I love it, its useability and crazy effects.

Love it! Very Good buy!

I have just bought myself one and immediately I found it user friendly and the quality was soo much better than I expected. I am reasonbly new to DSLR's and with mine have taken some cracking shots. Check my gallery. Very chuffed about the price as I wanted a decent SLR but didnt want to spend £700. Now looking forward to getting new lense(70-300mm Nikkor DX). Been having so much fun with all the settings(especially bulb) hehe. Great BUY! highly recommend!! 10/10.

Fantastic performance and VFM

Reviewer: Marmuk, Ely, UK

There is something I can't quite put into words about the picture quality - it just feels right when you look at it. Tried others belonging to friends which cost about the same and on paper look as good if not slightly better but they just don't do it for me. The optics on both the "kit" lenses ( 18-55mm and 55-200mm) are way better than you'd expect, making this a fantastic Value For Money proposistion if you're moving up from point and shoot. This is my first dSLR and it's going to take some persuasion to "upgrade".

My first D-SLR. What a machine!! Pure class to use, and I may never go back to film again. EVER!! I have since used other D-SLR's of various friends, and stil believe that the D50 is THE BEST!!

My first DSLR, and i love it... Image quality is superb... Looking at the D80 now, but it will take something special for me to upgrade...

Great

Reviewer: Rory Witham, Gloucester, UK

I have both the D50 and the D70, I now prefer the D50 as the matrix upgrade and a few other tweaks gives me some great results.

I spend most of my time shooting weddings, and where the D70 lacks in performance, I find that the D50 makes up for it, as well as being half the price of what the D70 was to buy at the time.

The Nikon D50 is a great camera for all, its is 6MP but has a bigger sensor than many larger point and shoot cameras so your going to get great images, Printing up to and over 20X30 inches is possible and requires little post editing.

Compared to some other cameras it cost less and offers more flexibility inter changeable lens and a longer battery life. - I can shoot all day then carry out other photography with out needing to charge back up. I think that you can shoot around 2000 shots on a single charge.
