There's a lot wrong with the Dimage Z5, from its bargain-basement construction to its average image quality. But there's a lot right with it, too, especially its superb macro and telephoto flexibility, stunning Movie mode and manual exposure modes. If you want a fun camera that does almost everything, take a look at this one. Also consider:
Pentax optio 750z

This my digital second camera and have had ti for about a month. I really rate this camera as there is very little time lapse between pressing the Shutter and the photo being taken. The lens is the big winner with 12 X times optical zoom and an addition 4X Digital which is a great feature on its own. Then we have two Macro modes - Macro will focus down to 1 cm!
I have got a Telphoto that sits on the front and increases Imange by 2.2X. That was from USA and excellent is the quality.
I afraid as soon as I bought mine, KonicaMinolts announced it ceasing pproduction of all Cameras! Always hapenes to me - its uncanny!
It has so much going for it and if you can find you can still pick them up for great prices.
DiMage Z6 experience

My maxim in life is "work toward your strengths". In the case of the DiMage Z6, that strength is macro images. I have an aftermarket macro lens that turns the Z6 into an amazing recorder of insect activities and sexual organs of flowers. I have given up totally on the DiMage's weakness: landscapes and night images. With a maximum shutter opening of only four seconds, night shots are very limited. Landscape images are never sharp enough to keep. I award a middling score on ergonomics; when I use place my left eye to the viewfinder, my nose presses against the control ring and changes the exposure settings. Overall I like the camera, though I don't think I'd purchase another one.
