by Mark Bailey September 28, 2015
written by Mark Bailey

Maverick spending is proving to be one of the challenges facing the small and middle sized businesses in UK. It can however be viewed from an angel where it is advantageous to the company. However, when it comes to procurement, it is more of a problem than an advantage. Maverick spending is the instance where purchases are made in an organization without the procurement department being notified, or rather, being away that such kinds of purchases are taking place. It is also a practice that is usually out of the agreed contracts and poses a great risk to the existence of the business in the long run. A new research has come out to show that one third of the purchases that take place in businesses in UK occur without the knowledge of the procurement department. Some organizations even experience more than this figure and it is very challenging to do business in such kind of an environment.

The Art of Digital Storytelling

by Mark Bailey July 26, 2015
written by Mark Bailey

Richard Wagner, a German operatist and composer, aimed to transform musical drama to a “gesamtkunstwerk,” which means “total work of art”, more than a century ago. He felt that theater was the superior artform and therefore music should be in subordination to it. The flawed concept of the “total work of art” has had a huge impact on the practice of storytelling, while Wagner’s radical ideas did much to trouble many of his musical contemporaries.

Nowadays, tools of digital storytelling could become “gesamtkunstwerk” for this generation. This is true because today’s audiences have the ability to access huge amounts of highly interactive and specific content online. So you can afford to start dreaming if you’ve got a story to tell. With multimedia storytelling tools there has never been a more appropriate time to discover ways in which to improve your work.
