Islington Metal Works By Chris Giles

by Mark Sharron December 7, 2016
written by Mark Sharron

One thing I don’t see much of at weddings are Army tanks. Not that’s it’s going to be much of a surprise to anyone really. Can you imagine what it would be like if it became tradition that at the moment of the first kiss Grandma stood up in the turret wearing a lopsided helmet screaming YEE HAW! and firing a rally of missile into the air?

Yeah, it would amazing wouldn’t it?

But if the tanks won’t come to us (without ruining a lawn) then we need to go to them and it leads us to the rather kooky, 100% cool Islington Metal Works in London.

It’s such a Fab place and only 10 minutes from Islington Town Hall which is where Rachel and Chris got married.

Rachel and Chris are Brits living in Australia so it was their wish to come over here and get married with all their friends and family close. Chris is a local locksmith who works in the Worthing area whilst Rachel works in the rag trade.

Their ceremony at Islington Town Hall was unlike any other. The rules are no religious presence anywhere which is why you don’t see traditional hymns at a registry office.

This doesn’t mean you can’t take those rules and bend the heck out of them. Queens ‘Don’t stop me now’ and Ben E Kings ‘Stand by me’ aren’t religious so we did indeed have song during the ceremony.

Islington Metal Works is great because they will decorate it any way you want and everyone is quite sweet there.

After their arrival we took some more photos, the more formal stuff and then went in to dinner where Rachel’s sister sung her speech which was hilarious.

We also spent some time setting up some shots of the tank, we couldn’t not take photos of it as Greg was shooting with me he helped manage the lights and the smoke bomb while I concentrated on the shot.

Rachel and Chris left before we did and we waved them off before going home ourselves.

The Hackney Round Chapel By Chris Giles

by Mark Sharron December 7, 2016
written by Mark Sharron

Here is Becky and Andy who were married at the Hackney Round Chapel.

Inside the chapel there’s a huge amount of space, you can fit hundreds in there and wherever I looked there was neat touches, paper cranes, flowers and lots of fairy lights, which for a photographer gives me a lot to play with as well as a huge amount of daylight that streams in through the windows too.

Becky arrived by Black cab before walking down the aisle to a patient Andy. The readings were very emotional bringing tears all round and there was a lot of love in the room between everyone.

Before the first dance Becky got changed into another outfit and burst back into the room, dancing with Andy straight away so the guests were caught off guard,  surprise and a great big dose of energy was there from the start which carried right on through until close.

Iford Village Hall By Chris Giles

by Mark Sharron December 7, 2016
written by Mark Sharron

Shelley and Scott’s wedding was ace. They both live Sussex way, in Hove and with their wedding ceremony at the Brighton Bandstand it was easy enough for them to get ready just a few minutes walk away. I loved the eclectic decor of their home, HRH the queen Victoria was on show and all sorts of things that defined them were everywhere.

I rocked up to find Shelley with her makeup underway and I settled there for a bit before heading off to a nearby hotel for Scott’s prep before returning to Shelley for her final stages before walking to the Bandstand with them.

Shelley and Scott booked a bus to take them and their guests to Iford Village Hall which is around 20 minutes away an is a typically cute village hall, in a sleepy village with a church nearby and a small row of houses. It was Idyllic, peacful and pretty all around. We didn’t see another soul there all day and I was very impressed because it seems to be the type of place everyone looks for but not somewhere everyone finds when they book their wedding.

It was beautifully decorated inside and a lot of the trinkets were from their home which made it particularly sweet. Teapots, porcelain figurines and polaroids of themselves all helped them to own the venue.

Their wedding was filled with the most important people and at around 30 guests it was intimate and cosy which was helped by the size of Iford VIllage Hall too.

Also, as a fellow West Highland Terrier owner I was totally made up there were two with us for the day. Good times.

In the evening they had a few games, then the DJ spun up the dancefloor and we saw in the rest of the night.

Special mention goes to those assisting on the day, Amy Prifti for her makeup and Brian Mole for his DJ and entertaining skills!

A Winkworth Farm Wedding By Chris Giles

by Mark Sharron December 7, 2016
written by Mark Sharron

Welcome to Amy and Karl’s wedding at Winkworth Farm in Malmesbury.

Amy got ready at the family home just a few minutes away from All Saints Church in Garsdon. It’s in the middle of the countryside with fields all around and Amy’s father and Karl renewed the driveway leading up to the church especially for the wedding. It really made it stand out, like a new church!

In this case though, you know you’re on good ground when the vicar is walking around with a selfie stick taking their own photos.

Amy and Karl’s wedding was at the end of May and looking at the weather outside right now (I’m typing this in June) anyone getting married in late April and May made a smart move! The weather was a bit hit and miss but…… changeable is good for photos most of the time!

Winkworth Farm is a feature rich venue with lots of opportunity for photos, the sunken gardens are good to use and around this time of year their flower beds have a wall of Tulips to take advantage of.

The rest of the day took place here with speeches, some night photos and an epic bouquet throw to finish it off.

Models Day Out by Robert MacNeil

by Mark Sharron June 20, 2016
written by Mark Sharron

“Every photoshoot has to happen somewhere, and the best ones are shot in the action of the world going by. The only problem with that is everyone tends to stop and watch when you have 3 models posing in the middle of all the action of life. It was going to be a long day shooting so we decided to have some fun at the same time. Shot at Toronto’s Centre Island, the day started on the ferry to the island with one of Toronto’s most famous landmarks in the background, The CN tower looms over everything. We explored the amusement area, the food pavilion, the bandstands, then ended the day at the beach where all wonderful days should end. The hardest part of the day was ending it.”

Wonder Woman by Robert MacNeil

by Mark Sharron June 20, 2016
written by Mark Sharron

On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain. These cases are perfectly simple and easy to distinguish. In a free hour, when our power of choice is untrammelled and when nothing prevents our being able to do what we like best, every pleasure is to be welcomed and every pain avoided. But in certain circumstances and owing to the claims of duty or the obligations of business it will frequently occur that pleasures have to be repudiated and annoyances accepted. The wise man therefore always holds in these matters to this principle of selection: he rejects pleasures to secure other greater pleasures, or else he endures pains to avoid worse pains.

But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful.

Behind the Mask By Robert MacNeil

by Mark Sharron June 20, 2016
written by Mark Sharron

“We live our lives, behind a mask, never truly showing who you are to others for fear of being rejected or judged. I wanted to focus on what hides behind beauty and what we consider beautiful as a society. What do you see? Two beautiful women, one dark haired, art covering her body and you think you know her? The other, a tall statuesque blonde, standing proud but that’s just the mask they both wear. One is terrified of how people perceive her, the other couldn’t care less. Do you think you know which is which. One raises cows and loves them, the other has an amazing sense of humour and will make you laugh for hours, but what do you see? You see the mask we all wear but not what is BEHIND THE MASK.”

Amour de Petales by Robert MacNeil

by Mark Sharron June 20, 2016
written by Mark Sharron

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
