written by Mark Bailey

They say that everyone needs a hobby. Finding something that you love doing can lower your stress levels and make life more enjoyable. Yet, too many people think that this is either expensive or difficult to do.

The fact is that there are plenty of online hobbies that are highly rewarding as well as free to try. Which of the following activities could offer the perfect way for you to unwind?

Start a Blog

It is easy to think that setting up a blog is expensive and something that is only done by businesses or professional bloggers. However, it is possible to set up a WordPress blog for free and start writing straight away.

Other options will see you paying for web hosting, for a domain name or to the blogging platform itself. Whether you choose the free option or not, writing about something that you are passionate about is a fine hobby.

Play the Stock Market

Have you always dreamed of playing the stock market? There are tips around that show you how to get started with even small amounts. Can’t you do it for free, though? Yes, you can.

Many stock broker sites have a training function that lets you trade without risking your own money. You won’t make real-money profits in this way of course, but it may let you work out whether you should trade for real in the future.

Discover and apply to the latest Insurance, Consistency and Endorsing occupations with Insurance Occupations – the best spot to secure insurance positions on the web.

Online Investment

There are a multitude of online investment opportunities available online in this day and age. Broking and the markets as mentioned have been popular over the years but narrowing down the type of investment could see better and quicker returns and none more so than in gold and silver coins. These are proving to be almost in line with ever-increasing inflation rates we are seeing during the current financial slowdown.

Research Your Family Tree

Many people would love to find out more about the history of their family. This conjures up the image of spending endless hours browsing through giant, dusty books or else paying an expert to do the research instead.

The good news is that you can do this research on your own online these days. There are a number of sites that help you to find your ancestors and living relatives at no cost, turning this into an engrossing hobby that anyone can enjoy.

Learn to Play a Musical Instrument

You might think that getting taught how to play a musical instrument is something that you definitely need to pay for. You probably also imagine that you need to be in the same place as the teacher.

Yet, you will find lots of online tutorials and videos teaching you how to play the guitar, piano or any other instrument that you choose. Many of them are completely free and will get you off to a strong start.

It is incredibly easy to add some extra spice to your life at no cost by trying out some free online hobbies like these.

BETWEEN MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY INTERIOR DESIGN: THE BLURRY LINE

by Mark Bailey January 30, 2020
written by Mark Bailey

Modern and contemporary interior design are often used interchangeably. Contrary to what a lot of people think, they do not mean the same thing. So, what is the difference?

Modern Design

Modern design refers to a historic design movement that was prominent within a certain period of time (between the 1920’s and 1950’s). It is a defined style that does not change. The elements that make up modern design are peculiar to the modern style, and are easily recognizable.

In terms of categorization of interior design development, modern really refers to a style that eventually develops into ‘Mid Century Modern’ design. Basically, this design style is characterized by clean and unadorned interiors. When you speak of a modern interior in its true sense, you are referring to an interior where the use of natural materials is such as hardwood flooring is prominent. Hardwood floors are not only a good investment but it also accentuates elegance and luxury design. It is a practical investment because they add value to your home. They are durable, easy to clean and repair. The aesthetic character of the interior is simple yet beautiful and functional. Furniture is open and raised off the floor to give an airy feel and there is an emphasis on vertical and horizontal lines showing off structural elements.

Contemporary Design

On the other hand, contemporary design is ever changing. Gaining popularity in the 1970’s, this style is reflective of the moment. When you speak of contemporary design, you are referring to cutting-edge, trending, ever-evolving designs and homestyles. It projects the elements in design that are prominent at the point in time. It is not uncommon for contemporary designs to use elements from different time periods, fusing them to form a unique style. As a result of this diversity and its ever-changing nature, up-to date contemporary design today, may look outdated years later.

Diversity in texture and colour are prominent with this design.

The Blurry Line

When you are able to tell one from the other, you find that the line between the two styles is not so blurry after all.  There are noticeable differences between them. The interior of a modern space follows a definitive and strict format. Colours are usually neutral and natural to give a spacious and airy effect.

On the other hand, a contemporary interior celebrates variety. With this style of interior design, there are no barriers to the colours that may be integrated.

The Similarities

There are also remarkable similarities between modern and contemporary interior design, in spite of the differences. Time and again, modern design elements can be found in contemporary design. They both display simple and uncluttered spaces. Some of the materials used in modern design are equally favoured in contemporary styles such as metal, wood and leather.

What Works For You

In a nutshell, while the idea of modern in interior design describes a distinct style which stemmed from a historic design movement, contemporary design is a constantly evolving style that features current trends. It is eclectic, trendy and diverse. Whatever suits you, works just fine. Both styles have their noticeable features. In making a preference, it is worth knowing that although a contemporary design can have modern features, a modern design can by no means be contemporary.

Advancements in Smart Phone Cameras Coming this Year

by Mark Bailey March 28, 2019
written by Mark Bailey

In the last few years, the camera quality of phones has increased greatly. There have been major improvements not just in the image processing, but the number of lenses and their clarity. In 2019, this will only continue. Technology companies are racing to develop phones with better cameras and multiple lenses.

Where we’re at Now

While there were three major trends in the last year, the addition of multiple lenses, computational photography technologies, and the use of AI for photo shooting assistance and scene detection will all be improved upon. Huawei’s new phone, the P20 Pro, was released last year and uses three rear cameras. They improved upon the P20 with the Mate 20 Prom, which uses new image capabilities. There were also three, and later four, cameras in the new Samsung phones.

According to the experts at the site Money Pug, which is used to compare mobile phone deals, in addition to these smartphones, Google’s Pixel 3 outperformed the majority of them. It uses software and image processing that are carefully fine-tuned. It has also Super Resolution Zoom allowing you to shoot great pictures while zooming in through a single lens. It also has the ability to take bright photos in dark conditions by using its Night Sight function.

Upcoming Camera Phone Improvements

For this year, there are all kinds of announcements about phones with five and more phone cameras. With Nokia’s rumoured five camera lens phone, these lenses will have telephoto, monochrome, colour, and multi-lens synthesis, giving you increased flexibility. LG also has new patents that are quite enticing. The first of their new devices includes seven cameras on a curved phone, but there are noises about a 16-lens camera that can capture moving images together.

The number of lenses is just one aspect of camera phones that will expand this year. There is currently a megapixel race occurring to see who can release a phone with 48-megapixel cameras. These phones from Honor and Xiaomi will give users the ability to capture photos in billboard-sized resolution.

Advancements in Camera Phones

AI has been mostly limited to detecting what the camera is shooting and adjusting parameters like exposure, colour, and white balance. But now phone manufacturers have begun using AI to process multiple images and deliver better results than ever before. However, be careful when these advancements hit the market in full force. Some users complain that AI processing is too intense, making camera shots lower quality. Apple’s iPhone XS has also made customers unhappy with its smoothening effect.

Next will be a way to give users the ability to tone down and adjust post-processing. This is similar to how you can tweak the depth of field with dual cameras lenses. Computational photography techniques will be refined. For example, Apple’s first Smart HDR was flat by the standards of Google’s HDR+. High-resolution features will likely be improved upon, with less fuzziness in the photos and cleaner shots in low-light conditions.

3D sensors on the front of phones for facial unlocking features will be more widespread. Samsung’s Galaxy S10 will feature a Time-of-Flight sensor on the back of the phone to measure depth. Huawei is talking about launching a phone that can take 3D photos next year. As 3D imaging improves, so will AR apps. E-commerce sites may allow customers to visualize products in different spaces. With high fidelity, these advancements may find their way into the mainstream more quickly than expected.

Video quality is also set to advance. So far we haven’t seen many new video enhancements, but Google has introduced fused stabilization, which means that handheld videos will be smoother. This will keep the subject more in focus more consistently. Apple has offered stereo audio to capture videos. Processors in these phones will offer higher video resolution as well as portrait mode and moving images.

Best Phone Cameras to Date

There are plenty of state-of-the-art phone cameras. The Samsung Galaxy S10 is not to be understated. Its new camera includes phone face-off and improved resolution. Nokia’s 9 PureView has five rear cameras. Google has been ahead in this area, however, Pixel 3 ups the hardware improvements by leveraging their tech expertise in computational photography and AI. Their Night Sight features is a real favourite. The latest iPhones have led to complaints, but the deeper and larger pixels let in more than 50 percent light than the iPhone X. The XS and XS Max have Smart HDR, a new ISP, faster sensors, and more intelligent algorithms to bring out highlights and details. They also allow you to controlthe depth of field after a photo has been taken.

While there is plenty of competition in camera phones, and each phone will have its own benefits and flaws, depending on what you are using it for it is always good to do plenty of research to find the smart phone that is perfect for you.

5 Awesome Backdrops for Destination Weddings

by Mark Bailey November 6, 2018
written by Mark Bailey

Let’s face it, the reason we choose a destination wedding isn’t just to get away from the stresses of a wedding back home (the guest list, the seating plan and the playlist being just a few of the obstacles prospective couples have to navigate).  No, the top reasons for going overseas are to guarantee good weather and to exchange vows in some of the most jaw-droppingly amazing locations in the world. These settings will not only ensure you and your guests have an unforgettable and unique wedding day, but they’ll also provide awesome backdrops for your wedding photos.

We’ve got together with the shapewear and wedding lingerie specialist Elle Courbee, to compile a roundup of a few destinations you might like to consider, if you’re looking for the striking and unusual:

Italy – Coastal Glamour

Italy has it all – beautiful scenery, delicious food and it’s steeped in history, so you’re assured of some magnificent locations for your wedding ceremony. If you want awe-inspiring vistas, then look no further than the Amalfi coast. Think historic villages tightly clung to the rock, with amazing panoramas – from plunging ravines to medieval palazzos and exotic gardens – all set against the blue sea of the Med. For exclusive luxury and the finest views of this magnificent coastline, then our advice would be to choose a clifftop hotel in the town of Ravello. Your photos will rival even the most glamorous scenes in a James Bond movie!

Mauritius – Stunning Beaches

Let’s face it, when we think destination wedding, we visualise picture-perfect beaches, with powdery white sand, sparkling turquoise waters and lagoons fringed by palm trees. If you’re looking for the ultimate beach wedding, with the photos to prove it, then the tropical island of Mauritius has got to be your number one destination. While certain countries, such as the Maldives, will only allow a blessing ceremony, with the correct paperwork and a minimum of one day’s stay on the island, you can legally marry here. In fact, it’s one of the top choices for destination weddings, so the process is relatively straightforward and many tour operators offer package deals here.

The stunning Lux Belle Mare resort is one of the most popular wedding venues on Mauritius. Situated in the quaint seaside village of Belle Mare on the eastern side of the island, this resort is located on a beautiful beach, with waves kissing the shoreline, and is sure to provide the desert island setting of your dreams.

New York – Iconic Cityscapes

If you’re looking for a stunning cityscape wedding, then there’s only one place to head – New York. And not just New York, we’re talking the Big Apple, the city that never sleeps …. Manhattan.  For the most iconic backdrop, look to Tribeca Rooftop. Set in a 1920’s printing press building in the trendy downtown area of Tribeca, the rooftop terrace offers amazing panoramas of the city’s landmarks and skyscrapers. Again, with the right planning getting married in New York is straightforward. Simply complete all the online paperwork with the New York City clerk beforehand (you’ll need to hold the license for 24 hours before you can legally get married). With a fee of just $35, we can easily see why this destination is becoming increasingly popular for British couples looking for something that little bit different. It also means you’re well placed for that Miami honeymoon!

Australia – Mystical Uluru

OK, so we know that our Antipodean cousins are most famous for sweeping beaches and barbecues, but if you’re looking for a mystical, fabled wedding venue, and fancy a trip down under, then a wedding at Uluru will hit the spot. This amazing location, in the heart of the Australian outback, comes alive at sunrise and sunset, as the rays of light hit the blazing rock. If you fancy exchanging vows with the scarlet rocks of Uluru and Kata Tjuta as your background, then The Ayers Rock Resort can help fulfil your dreams. At this resort, couples can get married on top of their own private dune, as the rocks behind come alive with the ascending light of dawn or as the sunset glow envelops the sky. Just remember that if you go for a sunset wedding in the Winter months, your guests will need a blanket or two as the weather can get chilly.

Iceland – Northern Lights

For dramatic, other worldly scenery that’s less than 3 hours flight time from the UK, the ‘land of fire and ice’ has got to be one of the world’s best settings for spectacular wedding photos. With wedding venues available on glaciers, in a cave, in front of stunning waterfalls, on volcanic beaches or atop soaring clifftops, we can easily see why Iceland appeals to so many intrepid couples. If you’re looking for the solemnity of a chapel, with the achingly beautiful backdrop of snow-capped mountains and the Snaefellsjokull glacier, then the dramatic Budir Black Church in the remote western region of the island will appeal to you.

This is a nature lovers paradise and as well as being spoilt for choice when it comes to locations, you can also witness one of the world’s truly celestial events – the Northern Lights. While the aurora borealis can’t be arranged to order, if you’re hoping your wedding will coincide with this incredible light show, then plan your nuptials between September and March.

Trend Alert: digital photo albums – the best new old thing

by Mark Bailey February 20, 2017
written by Mark Bailey

Whether you are an experienced photographer or you are just getting your career started, you better watch out for this trend. Digital picture albums have been around for a while but lately, they’ve been taking over the online marketing world by storm, acquiring impressive improvements over the years. Take a look at why you mustn’t discredit online photo albums in your promotion strategy.

Creating a digital picture album can be pretty easy, especially if you are using a great online photo book maker. Why? There is a wide number of reasons that sustain our affirmation. Here are the most important ones.

Up to date content

Digital photo album books can be easily used in order to offer clients your pricing information and show off your skills as well. Remember when you used to print a photo album and then use it for the rest of the year…or maybe even more? Well, all that should be left in the past. Digital photo album makers allow you to update your information, pictures or content as often as you want. You can change pictures instantly or even create different albums for different target audiences, in a very short time (wait for it!)…for free.

Diversity

Working with digital materials will actually save you a lot of time and money. Also, you can not only design digital photo albums, but an app like this can help you create materials that expose your work, which can later assist you with your promotion. Shareable flyers, flipbooks or tutorials. On top of all this, there’s the time factor that comes into play. E great photographer knows how important time management is. You need to divide your time between promoting yourself, finding new clients, editing photos and actual photo sessions or events. So why not load your pictures in a cool magazine looking online photo book?

SEO-riosity

Let’s say that I am looking for a photographer for my birthday party. None of my friends or family have any recommendations and I don’t know who to hire. What do I do? That’s right. I am going to Google it. Usually, if you are looking for something on Google, you are usually tempted to choose one of the first options displayed. If you are not placed in one of the first ranking positions, you need to work on this aspect. How? It’s simple! First, you add your location on Google Maps, then, you work on your SEO. Digital photo albums are SEO friendly. Add catchy descriptions with keywords that can help you rank better in searches.

Sharing is caring

This rule applies to your clients too. As long as you keep them engaged, they will keep coming back to you. Digital photo albums are very easy to share, either via email or on your social media channels. Moreover, they can be shared by your clients as well, and you don’t even have to invest in this.

Need we say more?

For more information about this topic, check out 50 ways to promote your photography business.

And don’t forget! Keep calm and say cheese!

Chris Giles: Shiplake Church And A Four Hat Tipi Wedding

by Mark Bailey December 7, 2016
written by Mark Bailey

A massive party. That’s how I would sum up Keli and Marks tipi wedding.

They had a gorgeous four hat tipi which was only a couple of minutes away from Shiplake church ( in Henley on Thames ). There were two of us covering their wedding, I was covering Keli’s side and Greg the photographic Ninja was covering Marks.

We both had a lot of space to shoot in and there was lots of cool stuff surrounding us. The best wedding car I’ve yet to see, a classic american Thunderbird, blew my mind and as the prep was next to the Tipi it gave me the chance to look inside and imagine the awesomeness that was going to take place later on.

After the ceremony Greg rode shotgun back to the reception with the other guests on a trailer pulled by a tractor!

While this was happening we made a brief detour to the waterside where Mark originally proposed and had some photo time there. We didn’t stay too long, enough to get the photos we needed and not too long their guests would miss them.

Islington Metal Works By Chris Giles

by Mark Bailey December 7, 2016
written by Mark Bailey

One thing I don’t see much of at weddings are Army tanks. Not that’s it’s going to be much of a surprise to anyone really. Can you imagine what it would be like if it became tradition that at the moment of the first kiss Grandma stood up in the turret wearing a lopsided helmet screaming YEE HAW! and firing a rally of missile into the air?

Yeah, it would amazing wouldn’t it?

But if the tanks won’t come to us (without ruining a lawn) then we need to go to them and it leads us to the rather kooky, 100% cool Islington Metal Works in London.

It’s such a Fab place and only 10 minutes from Islington Town Hall which is where Rachel and Chris got married.

Rachel and Chris are Brits living in Australia so it was their wish to come over here and get married with all their friends and family close. Chris is a local locksmith who works in the Worthing area whilst Rachel works in the rag trade.

Their ceremony at Islington Town Hall was unlike any other. The rules are no religious presence anywhere which is why you don’t see traditional hymns at a registry office.

This doesn’t mean you can’t take those rules and bend the heck out of them. Queens ‘Don’t stop me now’ and Ben E Kings ‘Stand by me’ aren’t religious so we did indeed have song during the ceremony.

Islington Metal Works is great because they will decorate it any way you want and everyone is quite sweet there.

After their arrival we took some more photos, the more formal stuff and then went in to dinner where Rachel’s sister sung her speech which was hilarious.

We also spent some time setting up some shots of the tank, we couldn’t not take photos of it as Greg was shooting with me he helped manage the lights and the smoke bomb while I concentrated on the shot.

Rachel and Chris left before we did and we waved them off before going home ourselves.

Revisiting The 90’s – The ‘Heroin Chic’ Era

by Mark Bailey November 28, 2016
written by Mark Bailey

DC magazine offers a broad look at different photography trends in popular culture. Before the birth of the internet, the tabloids were filled to bursting with fashion worn by unhinged and glamourous music, football and film stars. There was a definite buzz, and a growing fascination for the rich and famous. Every trend was sneered at while imitation grew, and the term, ‘paparazzi’ was used interchangeably with celebrity. The photography at the time began to change in style. The late eighties and early nineties saw the championing of fit, strong, vivacious and healthy looking ‘supermodels’, with Cindy Crawford et al donning never appearing without a glowing golden tan, bright eyes and shiny, tousled hair. As a backlash to this unobtainable degree of perfection, a new, bleak and gaunt look started to spell change for the fashion world, undoubtedly influencing young, hot mess celebrities.

The Birth

From 1993, emaciated, pale and unwell images of ‘waif’ like models began to appear, with many photographers quickly jumping on the trend while it lasted. Over the past thirty years, no trend or fashion movement has caused quite as much media backlash as Heroin Chic. There was a morbid fascination that captured the concerned hearts of parents reading newspapers while models appeared on interviews regularly to reassure the public that they were in fact alive and well and not strung out – at least not at all the time, blaming the fashion houses and make up for their dark under-eye circles and androgyny. The trend nevertheless drew attention to the exploitation; harsh, shallow practices and the rife amount of drug abuse across the entire fashion industry. No stranger to the world of drugs, it was in the Heroin Chic era South London born supermodel Kate Moss summed up the mindset and the importance of not just being slim – skinny was the absolute standard to ensure work kept coming in. She said – “Nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels”. Models’ addictions to drugs, alcohol were exacerbated by the culture of long days shooting with very little in the way of eating. The shocking images of young models bean to appear alongside perfume, underwear and jeans advertising, and for many this was a step too far in the already broadly misunderstood, contrived world of fashion.

Daniel Gerard of Addictionhelper.com says, “The movement was linked to the changing perception of heroin in popular culture due to the decrease in price of the drug in return for an apparently huge improvement in purity.”

Public knowledge of drugs was beginning to improve due to the widely publicised AIDS epidemic, which educated many on the importance of not sharing needles to prevent catching the disease. Snorting heroin began to appeal to a new demographic; middle class, often wealthy young people began to glamourise its use, despite films such as Trainspotting and The Basketball Diaries often serving as a stark reminder of the realities further down the line.

Bubble Burst

While the media happily poured scorn upon the models’ emaciated campaigns, any real appreciation of the Heroin Chic photographers’ skills were overlooked by endless outcry. The shock factor had outweighed any artistic merit and the public began to dismiss the trend for its underlying controversies. Public figures such as Bill Clinton damned the movement, blaming the fashion industry for irresponsibly celebrating associated drug culture.

“Heroin Chic became mainstream and commercially present in 1993, with the aforementioned Kate Moss appearing on the 1993 Calvin Klein campaign, with the help of director and actor, Vincent Gallo.” confirms a spokesman for UK-Rehab.com, a UK based  addiction charity.

The trend began to fade away after the public damnation of heroin related death. The famous young fashion photographer, David Sorrenti, died of a heroin overdose in 1997. The boyfriend of model Jaime King, he and Jaime were addicts, and the public exposure of this became all too real – the models’ unwell and distant appearances were clearly not just down to the use of cleverly applied make up.

By 1999, the sexy supermodel was back, an athletic, sinewy yet feminine Gisele Bunchden was heralded as the next big thing in fashion, appearing in Vogue issues around the globe.

Photo booth hire is the latest trend for your wedding

by Mark Bailey November 10, 2016
written by Mark Bailey

Hiring photo booths for weddings is an idea that’s been catching like a bad cold in November and it’s easy to see why. A photo booth is easy to manage, fun to use, has a whole range of features and gives you an almost unlimited amount of photos. More than just a memory capturer, photo booths can be a great attraction and source of laughs for all your guests. It’s a sure fire way to have a wedding that no one will forget.

Have fun

One of the main functions of a hireable photo booth is to make photographs fun. They come with a box of props for your guests to play with that can be coordinated with your wedding theme. You get hats, wigs, sunglasses and signs which, when combined with tipsy relatives, can make for some beautiful and embarrassing photographs for you to remember your special day with. The booths also come with green screen technology to put you and your guests in front of a choice of backgrounds, so you and your guests can make your photographs as crazy or cool as you want.

Do it your way

It’s a bit hard to enjoy having your photograph taken when it’s a professional photographer that’s doing the job. Posing for twenty minutes, shuffling into the perfectly lit position, waiting for him to adjust the camera settings and holding your aching smile for an uncomfortable amount of time sometimes make wedding photography seem tedious. A photo booth, however, takes all the stress of directing and planning and lets you do things the way you want. You can retake the photos as many times as you want and get all of them printed in seconds. You can choose what the booth looks like, the background for your photographs and the layout and design of your printouts. You also have the option of recording videos in the booth, so your family don’t have to wait for the designated cameraman to approach them to make a wedding message. They can record one in the booth and then put a photo in the guestbook with a note for the bride and groom.

Get the best quality for great value

King Of The Booth, a company that provides great quality photo booth hire in London, use Canon DSLR cameras in their booths, which take incredible quality photographs that will last a very long time. They also give you complete online access to all of the photos taken in booth at no extra cost and you can download all of your photographs without any hassle. There’s also no need to haul anything or worry about setting up: the wedding package includes delivery and set up and an attended will keep an eye on the booth to make sure everything’s going to plan.

Sharing your photos

With a hired photo booth you can digital and printed copies of all of your photographs. You can also upload your gallery amazing wedding pictures onto Facebook. Every booth visit ends with a print and you also get the option of double prints, so you can take and share as many photos as you want.

A BIT OF INDIA IN YOUR INTERIOR

written by Mark Bailey

The space of contemporary interior design is very versatile. The amazing thing about incorporating pieces into your interior is that there are limitless possibilities. One of the recognizable trends today, is integrating beautiful Indian pieces into your interior. This has the ability to completely transform your space, while retaining that modern touch.

Intricate Yet Simple

Traditional Indian art is vibrant and complex. The array of colours can create harmony within any space. When going for a monochromatic theme, ideal placement of a beautiful Indian art piece can help bring that pop that works well and complements your space.

Magnificient Pieces

When it comes to furniture pieces, the creative team at Iris Furnishings suggest that a beautiful fixture helps to draw focus to any part of the room, and create a good balance. Using a vibrant piece, such as an intricately designed chest or a patterned couch, introduces a statement design into your interior. With Indian designs, there are bold and beautiful pieces to choose from.

Clocks And Mirrors

A uniquely designed clock can transform your interior, adding an artistic feel while still featuring functionality. It could represent art and still serve its purpose.

Indeed, what better way of bringing a bit of India into your interior than incorporating mirrors therein. Mirrors, like clocks, are elements which can combine functionality and art. Mirrors are reflective, and so, they are useful for giving an illusion of space and making a room appear larger than it really is. Also, one with traditional Indian designs, enhance their tastefulness, elegance and creativity in your interior. You can also buy mirrored furniture to complete the whole picture of a larger room.

Weaving The Elements In

Indian art has the power to turn the mundane into the magnificent. For that effect, weaving in elements such as carved designs, art, sculptures and paintings in bright and exciting colours goes a long way. Common prints used in India include warli or paisley (aambi). These could easily be reflected in cushion covers and the advantage is that they can always be changed if you decide on a makeover.

Antiques can also add that authentic Indian flavour. Lamps and ornaments can help give that exotic elegance. Rugs and carpets are also a good idea, and help as a starting point, with planning the general outlook of the room.

For The Pop In Your Contemporary Design

Interior design experts suggest that, when attempting to achieve a monochromatic setting, a pop of colour is necessary to take attention off the general colour theme. Accomplishing this in a stylish manner can be done by incorporating a beautiful Indian-themed painting. Modern interiors do not always appear cozy. A touch of India adds a colourful, delightful and emotive touch to your interior.

A Variety Of Patterns

Traditional Indian art is rich in patterns and colours. Modern Indian art also follows this trend, but with a Western touch. Incorporating patterns in your interior helps to create balance. With Indian designs, these patterns could be incorporated in a beautifully embellished or patterned cushion cover, an intricately designed chest or cupboard.

The character of your contemporary interior is depicted in a rich and unique way, when you bring in a bit of India.
