Creative Ways to Display Digital Photography

by dcadmin March 30, 2016
written by dcadmin

Converting your pictures into a unique art display doesn’t require a university degree in professional photography and you don’t have to whip out the credit card to get it done. This piece takes a look at simple but practical ideas to display your photographs.

Always use a mat

This is probably the best tip you will get. Get your photo’s printed using a service like DC Colour Labs.  From personal experience, they’re reasonably priced delivery promptly.  Next starting thinking about how to display the image. Buy a frame one size larger than the photo you intend to frame and add a mat. This means purchasing an 8×10 frame for a 5×7 photo and then buying a mat that has a 5×7 opening. The cost of adding a mat is not prohibitive and businesses like picture framing business Best4Frames are flexible in terms of their frames offerings.

Explore your creativity with the mats and frames

You can improve the presence of a mat or frame using a variety of items. Good examples are wrapping and contact paper as well as simple fabrics like burlap or linen. This approach is equally inexpensive and gives a new dimension to your artwork. On this topic, you can also buy inexpensive frames and then glue decorative items to their surface. Metal chain glued to the frame for example can give you an urban and modern result.

Print your photos on canvas and frame them

Having your photos printed on canvas is one of the best ways to creatively display them. There are many artistes that can help you producing stunning canvas prints of different sizes and they can be framed up to transform the decorative feel in your space.

Go classic with your picture printing

Instead of printing your pictures in the normal colours, consider printing them in any black and white variations. This is a great way to create a classic and timeless appeal for the images. You can take the photos to any copy store but if you have a soft copy of the pictures, a smartphone or tablet and a printer at home, there are lots of photo apps that can give you black and white filters for printing. Don’t forget to only use apps that won’t override the original image. Apart from providing an artistic and modern feel, this technique is equally great for making pictures that are blurry or pictures that have poor colouring to look better.

Creative Studios and Design Agencies

by dcadmin March 12, 2016
written by dcadmin

Creative studios and design agencies are growingly creating their own digital services and products, rather than just creating them for clients in order to feed an insatiable app market. Here you can get advice from some of the best, people who are already making a success at it, such as Strange Thoughts, MPC and ustwo. These two are some of the most successful instances of innovative companies creating their very own and unique commercial digital products by engineering a startup culture amidst their ranks, having recently developed the million-selling game Monument Valley.

According to the CEO of ustwo, Scott Ewings as of now the market is probably the hottest place to be. People who have scars and those who have created digital products are the ones that are most looked for in the world right now. Startups are after them, retailers are after them, banks are after them, everyone wants them and because of that they are now starting their own companies. People who possess those sort of skills are in a huge demand.

Take your Photography to the Next Level

by dcadmin February 28, 2016
written by dcadmin

In order to take your photography to the next level, whether you are just searching for some inspiration or simply starting out in digital photography, our top 10 photography tips will help

Tell a Story

If you wish to tell a story you can do that using your photography. The first thing you have to do is to choose a subject, but remember that this is the hardest part of the entire process. Try experimenting with photo ideas closer to home, prior to heading off to far-reaching countries. You will see that there are a lot of interesting stores near you, such as the joy of working your own allotment or the drudgery of life.

Do Some Research

You should do some research, even if the story is close to your home or heart. You should plan what you wish to say. You might need just one picture for your story or if you want something more complex you can use a series of multiple pictures. If you want to reveal more about your subject, you can do a photo essay.

Choose Your Style

Think about how you want the final image to feel and look and the way you intend to shoot. Do you prefer the finished pictures to be in color or white and black? Do you just want to use natural light to improve the mood, or will hard flash light complement to your story? Your photos will be more coherent with a bit of planning. For inspiration, from our past Photographer of the Year contest, you could take a look at the best documentary photography entries contests.

Be Prepared

After you have made a decision about the style and approach, you will have to make sure that you have the right equipment to capture your shot. Probably, you won’t need to take the whole kit bag with you, so only select the tools you need. Make sure you have the right focal lengths and tripod. You have to check if the batteries of the camera are fully charged as well as whether you have enough memory cards and spare batteries for your flashgun.

Get Permission

If you are taking shots of people doing their daily stuff, it’s better to have their permission. Just tell them what you are doing and in most of the cases, you will have their permission. However, you will be asked to leave or get a wide berth, if you sneak around suspiciously. In order to get results, you will have to build a healthy rapport, especially if you are doing a long-term project.

Don’t Rush

You should try not to capture all the shots in one go or rush in, because often a long-term project is the reason behind the best documentary photography. You should try to maximize the time you have, if you do end up in one location with limited time.

Get Back-Up

Making sure that all your images are safe is one of the most crucial tasks for a digital photographer. After you return home from your day’s shooting, you are advised to make back-up copies on an external DVD or hard-drive after you download your images. It is better to save your back-ups in a location, different from your main computer.

Process Your Image

You can start to process your images once they are safe. Using smart software such as Adobe Camera Raw, at the processing stage you can make your tweaks to contrast, tone and color if you prefer to shoot in raw. It is not very likely that you’ll prefer to enhance your images substantially, for documentary photography projects. For added impact, just try converting to black and white or make a few adjustments.

Consider Presentation

Think about how you want to present your project, once you’ve finished it. If you’ve taken a number of shots, maybe you could have them framed and printed to be displayed in an exhibition, or perhaps it would be better for them if they are viewed in a book format. There are a lot of online printing services that can create amazing books of your pictures at a decent rate.

Study the Best Photographers

Just after the Second World War, a photo agency called Magnum Photos was founded by David “Chim” Seymour, George Rodger, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa. Since then it has become one of the most important photographic institutions in the world.

Your Digital Experience

by dcadmin February 20, 2016
written by dcadmin

God doesn’t want anyone to have as much data as we do. Now more than ever, we have enough talent in us. Into our ecosystem, we have enough money invested than ever before. Like never before, we have our senior executives involved.

However the end product of all that is far away from where it has to be and in most cases we stink less. We are not doing anything in our power with all this leadership support, money, talent and data.

For instance, let’s examine Zappos. It is quite functional, because you can buy anything you want if you know what you want. However the buying experience should not be anything like a stay at a Motel 6. I want to purchase a $1,845 Just Cavalli dress. The page is not inspiring me to do so, because the description is something like this- apart from the dress you might also like the Sperry Top-Sider Angelfish for $63and the $50 Converse shoe. “Just Cavalli S04CT0255N36734” is even the title of the page. Outrageous!

Open your Internet browser and go through different web pages. You will find little to no inspiration in terms of exploring your next fashion choices. Think of when and why you go to Zappos, even for shoes.

Zappos has great customer service and very good return conditions. Because of that, they have millions of customers. However, if they decide to step up to the Four Seasons or Hilton, provided that they do not want to have a Motel 6 experience anymore, would they still have so many customers?

Don’t get me wrong, Motel 6 is a good hotel chain because its serves an important purpose. But if you are Motel 6 and you are trying to run a hotel, it is expensive and difficult to raise everything up to the level of the Four Seasons or Hilton.

When it comes to digital, it is not a bad idea to try and aim higher, because it’s not that expensive. Bytes and bits are cheap.

The blog post play a very key role in the entire digital marketing strategy. My hope is to show a cluster of experience, each one doing something extraordinary in order to open your minds to new possibilities. Your mission is to accomplish the sacred combination of improving your bottom-line, creating delight in your customers and being unique.

Let’s take Gucci for instance. They already have a digital presence and it is checked of a box by someone at the company. Apart from Gucci, we can also have a look at Bare Necessities. If there is someone who can make something truly amazing with the assets that currently have they are the ones to look for.

We can do so much better.

This post has a compilation of seven strategies that I adore and love at the same time. My only goal is not only to inspire someone to be less terrible, but to become even better than he or she expected. I wish that someone to be able to create something truly amazing by taking into consideration the leadership support, money, talent and data.

Here are the seven strategies that will help you improve your digital experience:

  1. Use mobile experience in your digital marketing plan.
  2. Deliver simple and amazing personalization
  3. Focus your efforts on developing customer reviews.
  4. Create terrific buying experience.
  5. Whenever you are online, offline, maybe-line or later-line, try to be convertible.
  6. Accomplish with magnificent and innovative brand experiences.
  7. Create luscious and inspiring experiences.

WWE

by dcadmin January 3, 2016
written by dcadmin

Some call it “sports entertainment”, others call it “professional wrestling.” Regardless of how do you want to call it, it has left an ineffaceable mark on popular culture. Thanks to the generation-transcending reach of professional wrestling, popular faces like John Cena, Roddy Piper (R.I.P.), Ric Flair, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock became household names.

WWE, the company synonymous with professional wrestling, can teach several lessons about digital marketing, while still entertaining its millions of fans.

In all honesty, since I was a kid I have been a fan of professional wrestling. Along with my younger brother and my father I grew up watching it and since then I never quite shook the habit. As a matter of fact when I was in college, I started dating this guy and the only way I ever agreed to hang out at his place on Monday nights was because he agreed to get cable and I had the opportunity to watch my favorite characters on Monday Night RAW.

Selfies

by dcadmin December 23, 2015
written by dcadmin

Selfies” or self-portrait photos are huge on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Sharing where you have been and what you are doing with your followers and friends has become instantaneous, easy and fun.

However, there’s no need for self-portraits to be shaky instant shots captured by your smartphone. Self-portraits have been taken seriously, since the earliest days of photography, as a way of practicing techniques, improving camera skills and expressing a photographer’s creativity.

In 1839, one of the first photos ever taken of a human in fact produced on a daguerreotype plate was the own face of early photographer Robert Cornelius.

Now, the majority of photography students are regularly given self-portrait coursework and tasks, because it is a great way for them to improve their skills. It might seem a bit scary to prepare and capture a shot of yourself, but our six easy-to-set-up and simple self-portraits are the perfect way to begin.

Apart from your tripod, a kit lens and a DSLR, you don’t need anything else. However, as you will need in advance to carefully compose your photos, the use of tripod is essential, because in front of the camera you will need the freedom to move about.

Wireless remote makes shooting and focusing a whole lot easier, when you wish to take a self-portrait from a distance. If you haven’t got one, don’t worry too much, because we have got the necessary information on how to take shots with an intervalometer and a self-timer instead.

Are you ready to attend the Selfie School? In this article, we are going to have a look at how to take an easy monochrome headshot, which by the way is perfect for a CV, some more untraditional self-portraits that include weird angles, props and other innovative ideas and some crazy ideas for Facebook profiles that are better than the rest.

Shoot your Reflection

In order for photographers to take self-portraits, shots taken in a mirror are a great way. Additionally, composition and focusing are easy, because you can see what you are trying to capture. In order for the camera logo to read the right way, in post-processing flip the last image horizontally.

Get Up and Go Outside

Pull yourself together and go outside to take a natural photo in full-length in a garden or park. It might be a bit frightening to take a picture of yourself in public, so you should invite a friend to come with you for support. However, remember not to allow them to touch the shutter button, because if they do it, you can say goodbye to your self-portrait. Lean towards the camera and try different poses and tilt your body sideways for a relaxed, natural portrait.

Faceless Portrait

There hasn’t been a rule that say a self-portrait must include your face. You should try and take a portrait of one part of your body. If you prefer to stand behind the lens instead of the front, this is a great technique. You can also take a shot of your foot in the environment or take a close-up of one eye.

Go Wide

Revive your Facebook profile with a wild-angle, cartoony and fun shot. For this, you should use a kit lens but the distortion will be much more pronounced if you can get your hands on a wide-angle lens. In order for the effect to work, the camera has to be relatively close to your face so you can take the shot handheld.

Traditional Headshot

It is really useful to have a formal, simple monochrome headshot photo. Additionally, it’s the perfect solution for a business website, LinkedIn profile and a CV. With your camera on a tripod in front of you, stand or sit in front of a plain wall. In order to illuminate one side of your face you can use a handheld Manfrotto LED light, but it would work just as well if you use natural light from a window.

Use Props

You can be as innovative and creative as you wish, because you are completely in charge and that’s the beauty of self-portraits. Think about different ways to express your personality- maybe you could incarnate a favorite hobby or film. Comedy glasses, hats and face paints are all great examples how to transform your look and bring a sense of humor to your selfie.

Earn Money with your Digital Camera

by dcadmin December 18, 2015
written by dcadmin

Since the development of the instant camera, the photography’s world has changed. You can take a not so great shot with a digital camera and using a wide range of software options, you can make it perfect. Moreover, for just a few cents per picture, you can print one on quality paper at a store kiosk or on your printer. Much like the flash drive storage medium, in order to save and file pictures for sharing on the web, technology has created memory cards. From the memory card, you can quickly and easily upload pictures to your website, blog, family or friends.

With your digital camera you can earn money using some of the 10 different ways listed below:

  1. Stock Photography

It’s a growing business. In order to capture the essence of their articles, publishers look for photos for articles, magazines and website newsletters. It isn’t very convenient to step outside and take some pictures whenever you want to. Selling stock photographs to individuals and businesses is lucrative for you and convenient for them.

  1. Wedding Photographer

Well, at first you won’t be the main photographer unless you are a professional however you can be hired to take wedding photos after the ceremony or candid shots at the reception. You can compile wedding CDs of the pictures you took, because the married couple can order as many pictures as they want.

  1. Pictures for Newspaper

You might capture photos, if you are in the right place at the right time, that are worthy of the newspaper. The newspaper photographer mayt not be on the scene, when news happens. You can sell the captured moments to the newspapers. From local newspapers, you can also earn you some money by snapping shots at community events.

  1. Magazine Photographer

Submit the photos you have taken to magazines by creating a portfolio of those photos. They might hire you for some assignments, after looking at your work. You are advised to focus your efforts on small assignments for local newspapers, because it’s tough to break into the magazines’ market.

  1. Local Photography Business

Did you ever get mailing that shows houses for sale or cars for sale? Obviously, those photos had to be taken by someone and that someone could be you. If you wish to take photos for the area businesses, you should hire yourself out to them.

  1. Event Photographer

There are families who want to document their events such as birthday parties, bar mitzvahs, christenings and family reunions. You can catch candid shots of everyone by being the eyes in the room.

  1. Senior Portraits

By an outside company, all high school seniors usually have senior portraits taken. Visit your local high schools and offer your services to them at a good rate.

  1. Photography Site

If you are an expert on photography and digital cameras, it’s not a bad idea to consider creating a site so that you can sell photography products. With engaging content on different topics of photography, keep customers and visitors coming back.

  1. Photography Class Teaching

Digital cameras might seem easy to use but people could get mixed up by some of those symbols. Help others in creating great pictures by teaching them how to use their digital cameras.

  1. Food Photographer

If you enjoy styling food and taking pictures, you can earn decent money by being a food photographer for website owners, grocery stores, etc.

If you are a fan of photography, feel free to give us your thoughts on how to make money using a digital camera.
